Johann Strauss, Sr.
(1804-1849), Austrian composer
and dance orchestra director, known as "the Father of Waltz", largely self-taught as a musician, played violin in his father's salon, then joined dance orchestra. In 1924 he organized his own dance orchester, and in 1826 he began to compose waltzes and galops, quickly growing popularity. From 1833 to 1838, he led orchestra toured Budapest, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium etc. His work-"Radetzky-March", today still played at every Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert.

Johann Strauss, Jr.

Johann Strauss, Jr(1825-1899), Austrian composer and dance orchestra director, known as "the King of Waltz", son of Johann Strauss, Sr. who wanted him to go to business, studied music privately from the first violinist of his father's orchestra. In 1844 he organized his own orchestra and performed his own compositions, quickly won him popularity. From 1846 he toured with his orchestra throughout Europe-Serbia, Romania, Hungary, Prague, Germany, Warsaw, and St. Petersburg. He composed over 200 waltzes, polkas, quandrille, marches, and operettas(Die Fledermaus, Gyspy Baron..).
